This device measures how far someone walks. As the wheels rotate, they turn a horizontal disk with holes in it. With each full turn of the disk, a marble drops into a box below. By counting the number of marbles, the pedestrian can determine the distance he walked. Such a device would be a useful tool for surveyors.
